As spring approaches, it's the perfect time for Kansas City families to consider exciting sports opportunities for their young athletes! Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD) is offering engaging Basketball Camps and Mini Milers Running Clubs at the Okun Fieldhouse, designed to help kids develop their skills and stay active during the break.
Basketball Camps at Okun Fieldhouse
Directed by the experienced Coach Collins, the Spring Break Basketball Camp runs from March 17 to 19 and is open to players in grades K-8. Participants will enjoy a mix of drills, group activities, and scrimmages, focusing on essential skills like shooting, passing, and defense. Here’s the schedule:
- Grades K-3: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
- Grades 4-8: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Mini Milers Running Club
In addition to basketball, young athletes can join the Mini Milers Running Club, also led by Coach Collins, from March 17 to 19. This program is perfect for kids in grades K-5 and focuses on building confidence, strength, and endurance in a fun atmosphere. Running can enhance overall athletic performance and help kids develop healthy habits for life.
The running club meets from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, making it a fantastic evening activity for families. Kids will learn the importance of teamwork and goal-setting while enjoying the benefits of physical fitness.
